Apple iMac (27in, mid-2010)

Apple's iMac desktop PC lacks HDMI connectivity and Blu-ray support, but internal upgrades will keep most users happy

LED-backlit display, excellent design and construction, good performance, new processors and graphics cards

No HDMI or Blu-ray, no number pad on included keyboard, glossy display can be distracting

Apple's latest iMac retains an identical design to earlier iMacs but features upgraded internal components. If you've recently purchased an iMac there isn't enough to justify an upgrade, but if you're looking to purchase your first Mac or want to...

Apple iMac 27in

It's true. Big can be beautiful.

The 27in iMac may not be flawless, but it is peerless. The few improvements that could be made don't detract from the fact that this is quite simply the best iMac, and possibly even the best Mac, Apple has ever made.

Apple iMac (summer 2010) review

Introduced 10 months ago, Apple's original 27-inch iMac would arguably still be competitive today because of the continued absence of a Windows all-in-one computer with a screen larger than 24 inches. After a model update a few weeks ago , Apple has...

Largest display among all-in-one desktops; best-in-class productivity and gaming performance; DisplayPort provides home entertainment flexibility; SDXC card slot supports cards up to 2TB in size.

Connecting external video devices requires an extra, expensive adapter because it lacks an HDMI port; no Blu-ray drive; runs hot.

Apple's new $1,999 iMac comes with a faster CPU and a new graphics card, helping this 27-inch all-in-one desktop stay as competitive in performance as it already was in screen size. Despite the still-frustrating absence of an HDMI port, we have no...

Apple iMac 27-inch (Core i5)

The Apple iMac 27-inch (Core i5) gives you speedy quad-core power, better 3D graphics, and the same large screen as the previous 27-inch (Core i7) for a couple hundred bucks less.

True quad-core power. Wireless keyboard/mouse. Mini DisplayPort in/out. Screen has 2,560 by 1,440 resolution. Large display. Green certifications. 802.11a/n 5GHz support

Still no Blu-ray drive. No eSATA. Card reader is SD/SDHC/SDXC only. Requires third-party adapter for HDMI or DVI

Apple iMac 27in (Summer 2010 model) review - computer reviews and video

New processors, better graphics and the Magic Touchpad thrown in for free. Is the new iMac still the all-in-one to own?

Gorgeous design. Excellent trackpad. Awesome screen

Dual-core CPU. Mid-range graphics. Rear headphone socket

Bigger, better and with a multitouch mouse, the new 27in iMac is the world's most covetable computer. Should you start preparing your desk?

Astounding looks. Excellent screen. Silent operation

Over-designed peripherals

Apple iMac (27in, mid-2010)

Apple's iMac desktop PC lacks HDMI connectivity and Blu-ray support, but internal upgrades will keep most users happy

Thinner design, better screen ; Update to Ivy Bridge processors ; Fusion Drive tech compromises speed and space

As usual, pricy for an all-in-one ; Questionable upgradability

Apple iMac 27in (Mid-2010) review

The 27in all-in-one iMac is the first Apple machine to appear in our desktop PC charts, but its specification, performance and value make this power desktop PC…

Upgrades are off-limits and the Apple iMac 27in (Mid-2010) power desktop PC's screen would work even better without the gloss finish. But, given the carefully assembled components here, and provided that games aren't your bag, there will be little...

Apple iMac 27-inch (July 2010)

While others have tried and failed, the iMac is still king of the hill when it comes to all-in-ones. All that's left to ask for is faster external storage and better SSDs, but for now it still comes highly recommended.

Huge, quality screen and high resolution ; SDXC card support ; Grunty new GPU ; Still the best value all-in-one

No eSATA port ; Gloss screen may irritate some

While others have tried and failed, the iMac is still king of the hill when it comes to all-in-ones. With Core i processors inside and Radeon 5000 series graphics, it makes a more than halfway competent production machine, the resolution alone making...

Apple iMac 27in review

It's beautiful and very powerful but the extra upgrades make this high-spec iMac rather too costly for most

The display is a thing of beauty. The 27in IPS screen is huge, with very wide viewing angles, and its 2,560x1,440 resolution means everything's brilliantly sharp. The high resolution and large panel size also make it ideal for image editing. Our colour...
